Given yesterday decision that found New York’s “stop & frisk” program to be unconstitutional, future crime-busting methods could look a lot more like the airport security measures employed by the TSA.

Now comes word that NYC officials are taking down all the ‘no honking’ signs around this burg (you know the ones — “Don’t Honk-$350 Penalty blah, blah, blah) and I couldn’t be more delighted. I love to honk! It’s true, I really do get into tooting my own car horn, much to the chagrin of […]

Reading about Mayor Bloomberg’s recent exploits, it’s hard not to see his situation as a reality show. Here’s the pitch: a billionaire big city mayor in his last year in office finally stops pretending and openly disdains all the dumb “official” duties that the job entails. Witness last year when Billionaire Bloomberg officiated at the […]

Large sugar-based drinks like soda might disgust a lot of people — like Mayor Bloomberg — but if you want to find a particularly odious food, how about foie gras, that French delicacy that is produced by force-feeding ducks and geese through funnels shoved down their throats so that their livers become engorged, a traditional […]

There was a lot of back and forth between the NYPD and the OWS protestors yesterday but, in the end, what happened? That’s the question a lot of people are asking about this movement which celebrated its two-month existence with a lot of talk and civil disobedience. Don’t get me wrong. I think it is good […]

You gotta love a story like the one on the front page of today’s NY Daily News; it’s tabloid reporting at its finest. Tipped that Deputy Mayor Robert Steel does not live in NYC — as required by his boss Mayor Bloomberg — The News sent a reporter and photographer to Steel’s Connecticut mansion where […]

It’s easy to look back now and believe the evacuation of parts of NYC and the shutdown of the subway system was an over-reaction by Mayor “Third Time’s Not the Charm” Bloomberg BUT it was probably prudent. It’s hard though not to believe he took such a strong position in light of the abuse he […]

The entire New York City mass transit system is being shut down at Noon Saturday and Mayor Bloomberg has ordered mandatory evacuations for those living in areas near the water. I live on high ground and will be tweeting all day Sunday.

I have never smoked cigarettes. I did sample a precious few as a young teenager but never took up the filthy habit. But I’ve been around smokers my entire life. My father smoked. My wife smoked for years. My son smokes but he won’t admit it. And I worked in a newsroom where everyone smoked. […]

So what’s up with our billionaire Mayor Bloomberg lately? Our always-uptight Mayor has made a series of eyebrow-raising pronouncements capped off Thursday by his temper tantrum directed at a disabled reporter during a press conference. The mayor, as reported in the NY Times and elsewhere, huffed and puffed at a reporter confined to a wheelchair […]
