S’no panic here…
If you watch TV news today or listen to the radio, you’d swear the world was coming to an end with today’s snowstorm but New Yorkers are a hardy lot. I came to work today by subway and took this photo when the F line went above ground for a couple of stops.
It’s a photo of the Gowanus Canal in the snow. Somehow, I think it looks better that way. If you’re not from NYC, the Gowanus is a notoriously polluted waterway that is lined with industrial buildings. There is a continuing push to try to make it into a residential area and it might work if they ever clean up the canal but that remains to be seen.
But back to the storm. The subways were crowded and plenty of New Yorkers have come to work. We do not depend on cars ever so I guess we have an advantage. Thank God someone built this subway system 100 years ago or NYC would come to a standstill.
But there is NO paralysis here today despite what you see and hear on the news.
